Attention all music lovers - the annual Easter Jazz Festival returns to Waiheke this April.
Marking the start of the three-day festival, Dave Dobbyn and his all-star band headline the GOOD FRIDAY GROOVE at the picturesque Rangihoua Estate, Rocky bay. Also on the bill are Little Bushman (featuring Warren Maxwell from Trinity Roots, Fat Freddy’s Drop), Melbourne 8-piece “Cinematic Soul” group the Cactus Channel and Kiwi icons Hopetoun Brown.
As the weekend unfolds, 170 local and international musicians perform, including Harry Lyon (Hello Sailor), Sal Valentine and the Babyshakes and “NZ’s favourite Jazz entertainers” the Nairobi trio perform alongside Miles Calder and the Rumour (Wellington), the Peter Wood Trio, Miho Wada and her Pocket Orchestra, Waiheke local Katy Soljak with her band and the Wellington City Shake-Em-On-Downers.
International acts this year include Australia’s most accomplished Jazz Diva Nichaud Fitzgibbon (accompanied by her brother Mark on Piano), Melbourne 8 piece the Cactus Channel and a return visit from festival-favourite George Washingmachine (Sydney) and the Stefan Nagler Trio (Germany).
